Pallet Flow
A Pallet Flow Rack System (also known as Gravity Flow Racking) is a high-density storage solution that uses gravity and roller lanes to move pallets from the loading side to the picking side.
This system is designed to operate under a First-In, First-Out (FIFO) inventory method, making it ideal for industries where inventory rotation is critical, such as food, beverage, pharmaceuticals, and perishable goods. Pallets are loaded on one side of the rack and automatically flow forward through slightly inclined lanes to the opposite side for picking.
How Does Pallet Flow Racking Work?
The system works using gravity rollers or wheels installed on a slight slope:
- Pallets are loaded from the rear (loading side).
- The pallet moves forward along rollers by gravity.
- When the front pallet is removed, the next pallet advances automatically.
- The system ensures continuous product flow.
Common Applications & Uses
Pallet Flow Racking is ideal for:
- Food & beverage distribution centers
- Cold storage warehouses
- Pharmaceutical and healthcare storage
- High-volume distribution operations
- Manufacturing lines requiring FIFO inventory
- Perfect for narrow warehouse spaces
